How to Draw Ice Skates (Easy Step by Step)
Ice skates are a fun first drawing because they are made of simple shapes you already know. Each boot is a tall rounded shape with a curved toe, and each blade is a long skinny pill. Once you draw one skate, the second one is just a mirror image.

Step 1: Boot outlines
Draw a tall boot shape with a bumpy, fluffy cloud edge across the top. Let the back go straight down, then curve the front out into a rounded toe at the bottom. Draw the second boot facing the other way, like a mirror image.
Step 2: Fur trim line
Just under the fluffy edge of each boot, draw a gently curved line from one side of the boot to the other. It looks like a soft smile and makes the fur trim.
Step 3: Sole line
Near the bottom of each boot, draw a long curved line from the heel across to the toe. This marks where the boot meets the sole.
Step 4: First blade post
Under each boot, draw one short straight line going down from the sole. This is the first little leg that will hold the blade.
Step 5: The blades
Draw a long skinny rounded rectangle, like a stretched-out pill, under each boot, joined to the bottom of the post. Then curl the toe end up into a little swoosh.
Step 6: Laces, bow and snowflake
Draw the second short post under the other end of each boot. Then add a couple of short curved lines near the top for laces, two small loops with two short tails for a bow, and a little star made of three crossing lines near the bottom of the boot.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing ice skates
- Draw both boots first as light shapes, side by side, so they come out the same height and the toes point toward each other.
- The fluffy top edge is the trickiest part. Draw three or four bumps like little clouds instead of one long wiggly line.
- Make the snowflake with three straight lines that cross in the middle, like a pie cut into six slices. Then the arms will come out even.

How to color your ice skates drawing
Try white and light blue boots with silver blades, and pink or purple for the fluffy trim. For a twist, give each skate a different color and color the little snowflakes and bows to match.
Ice skates fun fact for kids
Figure skate blades are not flat on the bottom. They have a shallow groove that makes two thin edges, which helps skaters turn and stop.
Questions about drawing ice skates
What shapes do I need to draw ice skates?
You need a tall rounded boot shape with a curved toe, and a long skinny pill shape for each blade. Two short straight lines join the blade to the boot.
How do I make the second skate match the first?
Draw the second one as a mirror image, so the toes point toward each other. Keep both boots the same height by lining up the fur trim lines and the blades.
How do I make my ice skates look cuter?
Add a fluffy cloud-shaped trim at the top, a little bow on the laces, and a snowflake near the bottom of each boot. Round off every corner so the skates look soft.
