How to Draw Christmas Lights (Easy Step by Step)
Christmas lights are a fun first drawing because the same simple shape repeats again and again. Each bulb is an egg shape with a little cap on top, and a wire joins them into a string. Once you can draw one bulb, you can draw a whole string.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The first bulb
Start at the left and draw a tall egg shape, but leave the top open. This is the first light on the string.
Step 3: Middle and right bulbs
Draw a tall egg shape in the middle with a narrow neck at the top, and add a short slanted line on its left side. Then draw another open egg shape on the right, with a gap between all three.
Step 4: Two low bulbs
Draw two more egg shapes lower down, each one tucked into a gap between the top bulbs. Leave the tops open like the first bulb.
Step 5: The last bulb
Add one more egg shape on the far right, hanging low, to finish the row of lights.
Step 6: Wire and a neck
Draw a long slanted line at the top left, ending at the first bulb. Then give the top right bulb a narrow neck with a short slanted line down each side.
Step 7: Caps, wire and shines
Draw a small box on top of each bulb and a zigzag wire joining the bulbs, then add a short slanted line on the right. Finish with a short curved shine line inside each bulb.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Christmas lights
- Draw the egg shapes lightly first so you can fix them. The lower bulbs should hang a bit lower than the top ones.
- The wire is the trickiest part. Draw it slowly from one bulb cap to the next.
- Keep the little boxes on the bulbs about the same size so the string looks neat.
