How to draw a Scottish Fold cat step by step

How to Draw a Scottish Fold Cat · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: Head and ears

Start low on the left cheek and draw a curve up the side of the head to a small pointy ear. Dip down for the forehead, make a second pointy ear, then curve down the right cheek. Leave the bottom of the head open.

  3. Step 3: Body and paws

From each cheek, draw a rounded line that bulges out and curves down to make the sides of the body. At the bottom, add two small bumps for the front paws, leaving a gap in the middle.

  4. Step 4: Shoulder line

On the right side, where the head meets the body, draw a short curved line that tucks in toward the middle. It makes the cat's shoulder and leg.

  5. Step 5: Round eyes

Draw two big filled-in circles on the face, far apart and level with each other. Press hard so they look dark and shiny.

  6. Step 6: Tiny mouth

Halfway between the eyes, draw a small wiggly line like a tiny wavy squiggle. Keep it short and small.

  7. Step 7: Toe lines

At the bottom, draw two short lines in the middle that join with a small flat line underneath. Then add one short slanted line on each outer side to finish the toes.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Scottish Fold cat

  • Make the head wider than the body. A wide head is what gives this cat its cute, round look.
  • Draw both eyes at the same height and keep them far apart. Press harder when you fill them in so they look dark and shiny.
  • The mouth is the trickiest part, so practice the tiny wavy line on scrap paper first. Keep it small and centered between the eyes.

Scottish Fold cats get their name from their ears, which fold forward and down. The very first one, a barn cat named Susie, was found on a farm in Scotland in 1961.
