How to draw a Christmas gift tag step by step
How to Draw a Christmas Gift Tag · tinyhandscreate.com
Step 1: The tag shape
Draw a tall shape like a tag. Start with a short straight line across the top, then slant a line down from each end of it, like little shoulders. Draw the two long sides straight down and join them with a flat bottom that has softly rounded corners.
Step 2: Two bow loops
On the top line, draw one small loop near the left end and one near the right end, like two little bunny ears. Each loop starts on the top line and curves up and back down to the line.
Step 3: Curls and string
Add a tiny curl inside each loop, near where it meets the top line. Then, in the middle of the top line, draw two short lines that slope down toward each other and join at the bottom, like a little string.
Step 4: The hole ring
Under the string, draw a small circle for the hole where the ribbon goes through. Make the string lines end at the top of the circle.
Step 5: The Christmas tree
In the lower part of the tag, draw a tree outline that starts at a pointy top. Curve down each side with a couple of little bumps for branches, then flare out to a flat bottom.
Step 6: Star and trunk
Above the treetop, draw a small five-pointed star with a gap between it and the tree. Then draw a small rectangle under the flat bottom of the tree for the trunk.
Step 7: Tree ornaments
Draw two small round dots on the tree for ornaments. Put one on the upper left part of the tree and one lower down, a bit to the right.
Step 8: The holly leaf
In the lower right corner of the tag, draw a small leaf shape with a wobbly outline and a few little corners. Keep it a bit away from the tree.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Christmas gift tag
- Draw the short straight line across the top first, then add the two bow loops so they sit evenly on each side.
- The tree is the trickiest part. Start at the pointy top, then add the little bumps on each side so the layers look like branches.
- Keep the star small and leave a gap between it and the treetop so the two shapes do not run together.

How to color your Christmas gift tag drawing
Try a green tree, a yellow star, and a red tag with a bright ribbon. Color the leaf green too. For a creative twist, write a name or a holiday message on the empty space of the tag.
Christmas gift tag fun fact for kids
Gift tags tell who a present is from and who it is for. People have written names on small pieces of paper or card to attach to presents for a very long time.
Questions about drawing a Christmas gift tag
What shapes do I need to draw a Christmas gift tag?
You need a tall tag shape, a tree, a small circle for the hole, a star, and a leaf. The bow loops are two small curved loops on the top line.
How do I make my gift tag look neater?
Draw the tag with light pencil lines first and use a ruler for the straight sides if you like. Then trace over your best lines and erase the rest.
Can I use my drawing as a real gift tag?
Yes. Draw it on stiff paper, cut it out, and punch a hole near the ring. Then thread a ribbon through and tie it onto a present.
