How to draw a nose step by step

How to Draw a Nose · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Left side of the arch

Start a little to the right and near the top, then draw a curve that bends down and left, ending in a straight line going down. It is the left side of an upside-down U.

  2. Step 2: Right side of the arch

Start at the top of your first line and curve over to the right. Then go straight down, stopping at the same height as the left side so the arch looks even.

  3. Step 3: The bridge line

Start at the very top of the arch and draw a long, gently curved line going up. It bends a little to the left as it goes and shows where the nose meets the face.

  4. Step 4: Left nostril bump

Start at the bottom of the left side of the arch. Curve out to the left, down and around, and stop when the curve is heading back toward the middle. It looks like a big letter C.

  5. Step 5: Right bump and bottom

Start at the bottom of the right side of the arch and curve out to the right, down and around, like a backward C. Then draw a short wavy line with two soft dips that joins the bottom of this bump to the end of the left bump.

  6. Step 6: Nostril dots

Draw one small dot inside each round bump. Make them about the same size so your nose has a matching pair of nostrils.

  7. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a nose

  • Draw the two sides of the arch slowly and try to make them the same height. If one side looks a little off, that is okay, because real noses are not perfectly even.
  • The two round bumps are the trickiest part. Think of each one as a big letter C, curving out and then back in toward the middle.
  • Keep the nostril dots small and put them in the middle of each bump. Big dots can make the nose look surprised.

How to color your nose drawing

Try warm skin tones like peach, tan or soft brown, with a little pink on the round bumps. For something silly, color it bright red like a clown nose.

Nose fun fact for kids

Your nose and your mouth are connected inside your head, which is why food tastes different when you have a stuffy nose.

Questions about drawing a nose

What shapes do I need to draw a nose?

You need an upside-down U for the tall part, a long curved line going up from the top, two round bumps at the bottom joined by a short wavy line, and two small dots for the nostrils.

How do I make my nose drawing look cuter?

Make the bumps extra round and the dots small and even. Coloring a little pink blush on the bumps makes it look sweet.

Why does my nose look lopsided?

That is very common. Try making both sides of the arch the same height before you add the bumps, and draw the bumps slowly so they match.
