Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body, humps and tail
Start with a big rounded cloud shape for the body, with a flat bottom. Add two bumpy humps on top with a little dip between them, then let a thin curved line swing down from the back for the tail.
Step 3: Back of the neck
Start at the front hump and draw a long, gently curved line going up and to the left. This is the back of the neck.
Step 4: Head and front neck
At the top of the neck line, draw a rounded bean shape that curves over the top and around the face to the left. Give it a flat bottom for the mouth, then draw a curved line from the bottom of the head down to the front of the body to finish the neck.
Step 5: Ear and face
Draw a small oval at the back of the head for the ear, like a tiny standing egg. Then add a round dot for the eye, a tiny dot for the nose, and a short curved smile near the bottom of the face.
Step 6: The four legs
Under the body, draw four tall, narrow legs spaced evenly. Each one is a long rectangle with a little bump near the bottom and a flat bottom edge for the foot.
Step 7: The tail tuft
At the bottom of the tail line, draw a small oval. This tuft is the finishing touch.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a camel
- Draw the two humps with a small dip between them, and make them about the same height so they look like a matching pair.
- The neck is the trickiest part. Draw the back line first, then the front line, and keep the two lines about the same distance apart so the neck does not get pinched.
- Draw the four legs about the same length and space them evenly under the body so your camel stands steady.

How to color your camel drawing
Try sandy tan and golden yellow for the body and neck, with a darker brown for the tail tuft. Color the ear and legs the same tan as the body so your camel looks matching.
Camel fun fact for kids
A camel's hump is not full of water. It stores fat, which the camel can use as energy when food is hard to find.
Questions about drawing a camel
What shapes do I need to draw a camel?
You need a big rounded cloud shape for the body, two bumps for the humps, a bean shape for the head, and four tall rectangles for the legs. Small ovals make the ear and the tail tuft.
How do I make my camel look cuter?
Draw a round eye and a curved smile, and make the head a little larger. The small tail tuft also adds charm.
How many humps should my camel have?
This camel has two humps, like a Bactrian camel. A dromedary camel has just one, so you can draw one big hump if you like.
