How to draw a kid with a flag step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round head

Draw a big, wide curve for the head, starting at the top left and sweeping down and around the bottom to the right. It looks like a round fishbowl with the top still open.

  3. Step 3: The tall hat

Draw a flat, wide oval brim across the top of the head. Add a tall box with a slightly wider top above it and a band near the bottom, then a tiny circle in the middle of the band. Finish the head's right side with a short line that curves down from the brim.

  4. Step 4: Body and stripes

Under the head, draw two straight side lines for a short body that goes down to the bottom. Add two curvy lines across it to make stripes.

  5. Step 5: Legs and shoes

Draw a short line across the bottom of the body, with two little legs below it and a gap between them. Add a flat oval shoe under each leg.

  6. Step 6: Face and arms

Add two dots for eyes and a small curved smile on the face. Then draw a bendy arm out from each side of the body with a small circle for a hand. On the left, draw a thin line going up from the hand with a few short lines fanning out at the top.

  7. Step 7: The waving fingers

At the top of the thin line on the left, scribble a small bunch of short lines close together to make the waving fingers.

  8. Step 8: The flag pole

Draw one long straight line standing up from the hand on the right, down past the shoe. It should go through the hand and reach as high as the middle of the head.

  9. Step 9: The flag

At the top of the pole, draw a rectangle that sticks out to the right. Add straight stripes across it and a small box in the top corner.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.
