Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The big head
Draw a big wide oval in the upper middle of the page. Leave room above it for the antennae and below it for the body.
Step 3: Heart antennae
Draw two short curvy lines sticking up from the top of the head, one on each side. Put a little heart at the end of each one.
Step 4: Eyes and smile
Add two small round dots for eyes in the middle of the face. Draw a little curved smile centered below them.
Step 5: The neck
Draw two short lines going straight down from the bottom of the head, a little apart from each other.
Step 6: Puffy body top
Start at the bottom of the neck and draw a bumpy, cloud-like line across the top and down both sides of the body. Make a small dip in the middle of the top, like the top of a heart.
Step 7: Hands and sides
Draw a small circle on each side of the body, near the bottom. From each circle, draw a short line going down and curving in toward the middle.
Step 8: Bottom and feet
Draw a wavy line along the bottom of the body to join the two side lines. Curl it into a little loop on each side to make two feet.
Step 9: The valentine heart
In the middle of the body, draw a big heart. Start with the dip at the top, curve out to two bumps, then come down to a point at the bottom.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with a valentine
- Draw the head oval first and make it wide. A wide head leaves room for the smile and makes the kid look friendly.
- Make the two antennae about the same height. Draw them one at a time and check that the little hearts match.
- For the big heart, draw a small dip at the top first. Then curve down from each side to meet at one point at the bottom.
