How to Draw a Fennec Fox (Easy Step by Step)
A fennec fox is a small desert fox with enormous ears, and that makes it a fun one to draw. It is built from a few simple shapes: a rounded head, a body shaped like a rounded rectangle, two tall pointy ears and a curvy tail. Once you have the shapes down, the cute little face is just two dots and a smile.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and ear edges
Start at the top of one ear and curve down the side of the face, around the bottom of the chin, and back up the other side to the top of the other ear. The head is a wide rounded shape with a little bump at each cheek.
Step 3: The big ears
Draw the tops of the ears. From each ear tip, draw a slanted line down toward the middle of the head, then join the two with a short, gentle curve in the center.
Step 4: Body sides
Under the head, draw a curved line down on the left for the side of the body. Then draw one on the right, and add a small curl at its bottom for the start of a back paw.
Step 5: Paw and tummy line
On the left, draw a small round curve for the other back paw. Then draw a gently curved line along the bottom to join the two paws and close the body.
Step 6: The bushy tail
On the right side, draw a curved tail that starts at the body, sweeps out and up, and ends in a pointed tip. Draw a second curve underneath to close the tail shape.
Step 7: First eye
Draw one small dot for an eye on the left side of the face, about halfway down the head.
Step 8: Eye, nose and mouth
Draw a second small dot for the other eye, matching the first one. Then draw a tiny nose in the middle, with a little line down from it and two small curves for a happy smile.
Step 9: Ear and belly lines
Inside each ear, draw a short curved line that follows the edge. Then draw a short straight line going up from the bottom of the body, between the paws.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a fennec fox
- Draw the ears nice and tall, almost as tall as the head. The big ears are what make this a fennec fox and not a regular dog or cat.
- Start the body lines right where the chin curves, so the head and body feel connected.
- Place the eyes low on the head with a wide gap between them. Then the nose and smile fit neatly underneath and the face looks sweet.

How to color your fennec fox drawing
Try sandy tan and cream for the fur, with pink inside the ears and a dark brown nose and eyes. For a creative twist, color the background like a sunset desert with an orange sky and a big yellow moon.
Fennec fox fun fact for kids
Fennec foxes live in the Sahara Desert, and their giant ears help them stay cool by letting extra body heat escape. They also have very good hearing, so they can hear small animals moving underground.
