How to Draw a Blobfish (Easy Step by Step)
The blobfish is a funny, droopy-faced fish that is easy to love. You can build it from just a few simple shapes: a gumdrop for the body, a pear for the nose, and a big curved frown. It is a great first fish because the lines are soft, and wobbly lines look just right.

Step 1: The big body
Draw a big rounded shape like a gumdrop. Start low on the right, curve along the bottom to the left, then go up the left side and over the round top. Bring the right side partway down and stop, leaving a gap.
Step 2: The big nose
In the middle of the face, draw a tall pear shape that is narrow and round at the top and wider at the bottom. Leave the bottom open for now.
Step 3: The sad mouth
Start under the nose and draw a little curve that closes the bottom of the nose. Then draw a long curve out to the left and another out to the right, like an upside-down smile for a droopy frown.
Step 4: Two little eyes
Draw two small dots on the face, one on each side above the nose. Keep them far apart and at the same height.
Step 5: Tiny bottom fins
At the bottom left and right corners, draw two small leaf shapes that point outward. Each one is like a little pointy teardrop.
Step 6: The side fin
On the right side, finish the body by drawing a slanted line down from the open end to the little fin at the bottom. Along that line, draw a small fan shape that sticks out to the right.
Step 7: Fin line
Draw one short slanted line near the bottom of the side fin, starting inside the body and ending at the fin's edge. It makes the fin look folded.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a blobfish
- Draw the body big and light first. The blobfish should fill most of the page, so leave room at the bottom corners for the little fins.
- The nose is the trickiest part. Start with a round shape at the bottom, then make a narrower rounded top above it, and the pear shape will come out right.
- Keep the eyes tiny and wide apart. Small dots make the face look sadder and funnier, so do not draw them too big.

How to color your blobfish drawing
Blobfish are often pale pink or gray, so soft pink, peach, and light gray work well. For a creative twist, color the background deep blue to show the dark deep sea.
Blobfish fun fact for kids
Blobfish live deep in the ocean near Australia and Tasmania, far below where sunlight reaches. Their soft, jelly-like bodies are made for the heavy water pressure down there. The squished, droopy face people know comes from being pulled up to the surface.
Questions about drawing a blobfish

How do I make my blobfish look cuter?
Make the eyes small and the frown wide and droopy. Wobbly, soft lines also add to the silly look.
Is a blobfish hard to draw for kids?
