Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The kid's head
Draw a big round circle for the kid's head, but leave a small gap at the top. The hat will sit in that gap.
Step 3: The chef hat
At the top of the head, draw a flat band with two short straight lines. Then draw a puffy cloud shape above it with three bumps, like a fluffy chef hat.
Step 4: Face, apron and arm
Draw two small dots for eyes and a little curved smile under them. Below the head, draw a tall body with a smaller bib shape inside for the apron. On the left side, add a small arm with a round hand.
Step 5: Right arm and shoes
On the right side of the body, draw a long arm reaching out with two curved lines. Then draw two flat ovals side by side at the bottom for shoes.
Step 6: Cookie's first arm
Next to the kid's arm, draw a wavy curved line for one arm of the gingerbread man. Start it with a little curl at the left end.
Step 7: Gingerbread head and body
Draw a circle for the gingerbread man's head. Below it, draw a tall rounded shape for the body, joined to the head.
Step 8: Other arm and legs
On the right side of the body, draw a small rounded loop for the second arm. At the bottom, draw two tall ovals for the legs.
Step 9: Cookie face and buttons
Draw two small dots for eyes and a curved smile on the gingerbread head. Then add two small circles down the middle of the body for buttons. Finish with a small rounded loop where the kid's hand holds the cookie's arm.
Step 10: The baking tray
Under the gingerbread man's feet, draw a long flat tray. Make the top line long, slant the short sides inward, and join them with a shorter bottom line.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a kid with a gingerbread man
- Draw the kid's head circle first and keep it big, with a gap at the top. The hat and the face both depend on it, so a good circle makes everything else easier.
- The chef hat is the trickiest part. Draw the flat band first, then add three puffy bumps on top, and let them look like a cloud.
- Draw the gingerbread man's arms as loose loops. They do not need to match, because wobbly cookie arms look more fun.
