  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The dome crown

Start with a tall dome, like an upside-down U with a rounded top. Let the two sides go straight down and stop where the brim will be.

  3. Step 3: The wide brim

Draw a big, flat oval that wraps around the bottom of the dome, wider on both sides. Leave a small gap where the dome sits, and add a short straight line across the dome's base.

  4. Step 4: The hat band

Draw a gentle curved line across the dome, then a second curve lower down near the base of the dome. The strip between them is the band.

  5. Step 5: The big bow

On the right side of the band, draw two loops that look like a bow tie, one on each side of a small middle knot.

  6. Step 6: Ribbon tails

Under the knot, draw two long ribbon tails that hang down and spread apart like a skinny V. Close the bottom of each tail with a short line.

  7. Step 7: Flower petals

On the left side of the brim, draw three flowers in a row, each one a puffy shape made of five little round bumps.

  8. Step 8: Flower centers

Add a small cross or star mark in the middle of each flower so they look like blossoms.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an Easter bonnet

  • Draw the brim as one smooth, wide oval. Try going slowly around it in one motion rather than lots of short lines.
  • The bow is the trickiest part. Start with the small knot, then add a loop on each side so the two loops match in size.
  • Space the three flowers a little apart along the left side of the brim so their petals do not touch, and keep them about the same size.

Questions about drawing an Easter bonnet

What shapes do I need to draw an Easter bonnet?

You need a dome (half a circle), a wide oval for the brim, two curved lines for the band, and two loops for the bow. The flowers are puffy shapes made of five round bumps.

How do I make my Easter bonnet look fancier?

Add more flowers, a pattern on the ribbon, or dots on the band. Coloring each flower a different shade makes it pop.

How do I draw the brim so it looks flat and wide?

Make the oval much wider than it is tall, and have it meet the dome's base. This makes the hat look like it is seen from slightly above.
