A farm scene tells a whole story in one picture: a big barn, a tall silo, a fence, a tractor, and a sunny sky. It is built from simple shapes: rectangles, circles, a few curved lines, and a bent roof. Each step adds one new part, so you can stop and admire your work as you go.

Step 1: Ground and hills
Draw a long flat line across the bottom for the ground, leaving a small gap in the middle with a tiny hook up at each end. Above it, draw two gentle curved hills, one on the left and one on the right, like sleepy rainbows.
Step 2: Barn walls and roof
Draw a wide rectangle that sits on the ground line over the gap, for the barn walls. On top, draw a roof with a pointy peak and sides that slope down and bend outward, sticking out a little past the walls on the right.
Step 3: The tall silo
Next to the barn on the left, draw a tall rectangle that stands on the ground. Put a rounded dome on top and a short line across where the dome meets the tall part. Add a curved line on its right side so it tucks in beside the roof.
Step 4: Barn door X
In the doorway gap at the bottom of the barn, draw a square X, like two crossing sticks. Fill in the bottom part of the doorway with a solid pile.
Step 5: Hayloft window
Above the door, draw a small window shaped like a tiny house: a square with a pointy top. Fill it in solid.
Step 6: Silo dots
Draw four little dots in a straight line down the middle of the silo, spaced evenly like buttons.
Step 7: The fence
At the left end of the ground line, next to the silo, draw two short rails going sideways. Add a few short posts standing up through the rails and down to the ground.
Step 8: The little tractor
On the right side near the ground, draw a small rounded body with a box on top for the cab. Add two tiny wheels at the bottom and a short pipe sticking up at the front.
Step 9: The sun
In the sky on the right, draw a circle. Then add eight short lines around it, one above, below, left, right and at each corner, for the sun's rays.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a farm
- The barn roof is the trickiest part. Start with the pointy peak, then bend each side outward so it looks like a gentle bump, and let it stick out a little past the walls.
- The silo overlaps the barn roof a little on its right side. If the two touch, that is just right.
- For the sun rays, draw one short line straight up, down, left, and right, then one at each corner. Keep them all about the same length so the sun looks even.

How to color your farm drawing
Try a red barn with white trim, a gray silo, green hills, and a bright yellow sun. Color the tractor in your favorite color, and make the fence brown.
Farm fun fact for kids
Many barns have a hayloft, an upper floor where farmers store hay to feed animals through the winter. A small door or window high on the barn wall lets them move hay in and out.
Questions about drawing a farm
What shapes do I need to draw a farm?
You need rectangles for the barn and silo, a circle for the sun, and curved lines for the hills. The tractor is a small rounded box with two little wheels.
How do I draw a barn roof that looks right?
Start with a pointed peak, then draw each side sloping down and bending outward so the lower part is steeper. Let the roof stick out a bit past the walls.
How can I make my farm scene look more alive?
Add animals like a cow or chickens near the fence, some clouds in the sky, and a path leading to the barn door. Small extras make the farm feel like a real place.
