Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Start with a big, wide circle for the reindeer's face. Make it a little flatter on top, like a soft cookie.
Step 3: Two floppy ears
On each top corner of the head, draw a leaf shape that points out and a little down. Start each ear where the head curves, and let the tips stick out past the face.
Step 4: The big antlers
From the top of the head, draw two tall antlers that lean a little away from each other. Give each antler two bumpy fingers that point outward and a little heart-shaped bump at the top.
Step 5: Wiggly antler lines
Inside each antler, draw a squiggly line starting near the head and wiggling upward. Stop about halfway up, before you reach the fingers' tips.
Step 6: Wavy icing brow
Across the upper part of the face, draw a wavy line like squeezed icing. Make it go up and down in smooth little hills.
Step 7: Two round eyes
Under the wavy line, draw two small dots for eyes. Keep them the same height and far enough apart to fit the nose between them.
Step 8: Nose and smile
Halfway between the eyes, a bit lower, draw a bigger circle for the nose. Then add a small curved smile underneath it.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a gingerbread reindeer
- Draw the head circle first and lightly, so the ears and antlers have a clear place to attach.
- The antlers are the trickiest part. Draw the two tall shapes first, then add the fingers one at a time so both sides look alike.
- For the wavy icing line, think of a row of small hills and go slowly. It does not need to be perfect, because icing on a cookie is a bit wobbly too.

How to color your gingerbread reindeer drawing
Color the whole reindeer in warm gingerbread brown and make the wavy line and smile white, like icing. For a twist, add candy buttons or sprinkles, or make the nose bright red.
Gingerbread reindeer fun fact for kids
Both male and female reindeer grow antlers, and they shed and regrow them every year. Most other deer species only have antlers on the males.
