How to Draw a Peppermint Candy (Easy Step by Step)
A peppermint candy is a great first drawing because it is built from circles and curvy lines. You draw a wrapped candy with a bow on each side, then add a second round candy with a pinwheel swirl. Once you can draw the swirl, you can put it on lollipops and cookies too.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Wrapper and big circle
Draw a big circle near the top middle of the page. Then draw a long, soft bow-tie shape on each side, starting from the circle and flaring out to curly, rounded ends.
Step 3: The inner circle
Inside the big circle, draw a smaller circle. Leave an even gap all the way around, like a ring.
Step 4: The swirl lines
Inside the small circle, draw short curved lines that spin outward from near the middle, like pinwheel blades. Make each one bend the same way.
Step 5: Left wrapper folds
On the left bow, start where the bow meets the circle and draw two lines that spread apart to the rounded end. This makes a long pointed shape in the middle of the bow and splits the end into three puffy parts.
Step 6: Right wrapper folds
Do the same on the right bow. Start where it meets the circle and draw two lines that spread out to the rounded end so both sides match.
Step 7: The loose candy
In the lower right of the page, draw a second round circle. This is the unwrapped peppermint.
Step 8: Loose candy swirls
Draw curved pinwheel lines from near the center out toward the edge of the circle. Make them curl the same way as on the wrapped candy.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a peppermint candy
- Draw the small inner circle with a gap that stays about the same all the way around, so the candy looks like a neat ring.
- For the swirl, make every curved line bend in the same direction. Try drawing them one after another around the circle, like the blades of a pinwheel.
- Make the wrapper folds on both sides match. Draw the left fold lines first, then copy them on the right so the bow looks balanced.

Peppermint candy fun fact for kids
Peppermint candies get their cool, fresh taste from oil made from the peppermint plant, which is a cross between two other kinds of mint, watermint and spearmint.
