Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big wide oval for the head. Make the bottom a little flatter, with a tiny point in the middle of the chin.
Step 3: The headband
Across the upper part of the head, draw two curved lines that run side to side and touch the edges of the head. The strip between them is the sporty headband.
Step 4: Face and shirt top
Add two small dots for eyes and a little curved smile below them. Then, under the chin, draw two short lines going down, one on each side, to start the shirt.
Step 5: Shirt bottom and shorts
Continue the two shirt lines down a bit and close the shirt with a curved line along the bottom. Then draw a flat-topped box across the bottom of the shirt for the shorts.
Step 6: Legs and shoes
Draw two short straight lines going down from the shorts for the legs. Finish each one with a wide oval shoe, and let the two shoes touch in the middle.
Step 7: The arms and hands
On the left, draw a curved arm reaching up and out from the shirt, ending in a small circle for the hand. On the right, draw a straight arm out to the side with a small round hand at the end.
Step 8: Racket frame and handle
Above the right hand, draw a tall oval for the racket head. Then draw a long straight line from the bottom of the oval down into the hand for the handle.
Step 9: Racket strings
Inside the oval, draw one straight line across from side to side. Then add two straight lines going up and down to make a simple grid.
Step 10: The shuttlecock
Above the left hand, draw a shape that is wide at the top and gets narrower toward the bottom, with a small rounded cork at the point. Add one short line down the middle for the feathers.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a badminton player
- Draw the head oval wide and let it fill a good part of the page before you add the body. A big head keeps the player looking cute.
- The racket is the trickiest part. Draw the oval first, then the handle, then the cross lines inside, so the strings stay straight.
- Draw the shuttlecock next to the head, with its pointy end toward the left hand. Keep its lines light so they do not tangle with the head.
