How to draw a pinata step by step

How to Draw a Pinata · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Back and belly

Start with a short sloping line at the top left, then draw a flat line to the right. Turn the corner, draw down the right side, and curve into a flat line along the bottom going left. Leave the left side open for now.

  2. Step 2: Head and neck

Start where the sloping line begins at the top and draw a rounded box for the head. Then draw the front of the neck sloping down and to the right until it meets the left end of the bottom line.

  3. Step 3: Four legs

Under the body, draw four short, narrow U shapes in a row, hanging from the bottom line. Keep them about the same size and space them in two pairs.

  4. Step 4: Two ears

On top of the head, draw two tall, skinny loops side by side, pointing up. Start and end each one on the top line of the head.

  5. Step 5: The eye

Near the front of the head, draw one small round dot and fill it in for the eye.

  6. Step 6: Hanging string

Draw a straight line going up from the middle of the pinata's back. Finish it with a small circle at the top, like a loop for hanging.

  7. Step 7: Wavy rows

On the side of the body, draw three rows of wavy lines, one above the other. Make each row a long, gentle wave that stretches across the body.

  8. Step 8: Wrapped candies

Draw three wrapped candies on the ground around the pinata. For each one, draw a small oval in the middle and a little triangle on each end, like a twisted wrapper. Tilt each candy a different way.

  9. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a pinata

  • Start with the back, right side, and bottom of the body, then close the shape with the head and neck. Everything else attaches to this outline, so take your time with it.
  • Draw the four legs as two pairs and keep them the same size so the pinata stands steady.
  • The wavy rows are the trickiest part. Try making a row of small smiles and frowns side by side, and keep each row about the same length.
  • For the candy, draw the oval first and then add a triangle on each end pointing outward. Tilt each candy a different way so they look like they are tumbling.
