How to draw a Thanksgiving dinner plate step by step

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big round plate
Draw a big circle in the middle of your paper. Then draw a second circle just inside it, so the plate has a rim all the way around.
Step 3: The fork
On the left side of the plate, draw a long, skinny handle with a rounded bottom. At the top, draw a U shape with a straight line down the middle to make three prongs.
Step 4: The knife
On the right side of the plate, draw a tall thin rectangle for the handle. At the top, draw a blade that is straight on the left and curves out on the right like a bent leaf.
Step 5: The drumstick top
Inside the plate at the top left, draw a small egg shape tilted to the side. This is the meaty part of the turkey drumstick.
Step 6: The bone end
At the lower left of the egg, draw a short neck that reaches out. Finish it with a little lumpy teardrop loop for the bone sticking out.
Step 7: The mashed potatoes
Next to the drumstick, draw a dome shape like a little hill. Close the bottom with a gentle curve.
Step 8: The gravy
Across the top of the potato dome, draw a wiggly, wavy line from one side to the other. It looks like gravy on top of the potatoes.
Step 9: The peas
At the bottom left of the plate, draw four small circles. Scatter them in a loose group, with two on top and two below.
Step 10: The pie slice
At the bottom right of the plate, draw a triangle that points to the left, with a rounded edge on the right side. Add a curved line inside along that rounded edge to show the crust.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Thanksgiving dinner plate
- Draw the two plate circles first and go slowly. The second circle should stay the same distance from the first all the way around, like a ring.
- Leave room in the plate for each food before you draw it. Put the drumstick at the top left, the potatoes next to it, and the peas and pie along the bottom.
- For the gravy, keep your wavy line smooth and let it stretch across the top of the potato dome.
