  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The head

Draw a big wide oval in the middle of your page. This round face is the biggest part of your chihuahua.

  3. Step 3: The big ears

Draw a tall pointy leaf shape on each top corner of the head. Start each ear where it touches the head and sweep it up and out to a sharp point.

  4. Step 4: Inside the ears

Add one short curved line inside each ear, following the curve of the ear's outer edge. It shows the soft inside of the ear.

  5. Step 5: The eyes

Draw two round dots in the middle of the face, side by side. Fill them in dark so your dog looks bright and curious.

  6. Step 6: Nose and mouth

Under the eyes, in the center, draw a small rounded muzzle shape. Fill in a dark nose at the top, then add little curves for the lip and tiny teeth.

  7. Step 7: The body

Under the head, draw a tall rounded shape like a long egg, a little narrower at the top. Connect its top to the bottom of the head, and give the bottom two small bumps for the feet.

  8. Step 8: Paws and tail

At the bottom of the body, draw a small upside-down U to split the two front paws. Then add a curvy line for the tail, starting at the side of the body and ending in a little hook.

  9. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a chihuahua

  • Draw the head oval nice and wide first, so the ears have plenty of room to stretch out from the top corners.
  • Make both ears about the same height and tilt them out like a pair of wings. Look at the first ear while you draw the second.
  • The muzzle is the trickiest part. Draw the small rounded shape first, then fill the nose, and add the tiny teeth last.
