How to Draw a Pomeranian: easy drawing guide for kids

How to Draw a Pomeranian (Easy Step by Step)

A Pomeranian is a tiny dog with a huge cloud of fur, and that makes it fun to draw. This version is built from simple shapes: a bumpy circle for the head, two little triangles for ears, ovals for the muzzle, legs and paws, and a puffy pom-pom tail. Once you can draw a wavy cloud edge, you can draw the whole dog.

How to draw a Pomeranian step by step

How to Draw a Pomeranian · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The fluffy head

Start with a big, round cloud shape for the head. Draw lots of little bumps along the line, but leave a small gap at the bottom right so it looks like a puffy ball of fur.

  3. Step 3: Pointy ears

Add two small triangle ears on the top corners of the head. Start each one on the fluffy edge, go up to a point, then come back down to the head.

  4. Step 4: The muzzle

Draw a wide oval in the middle of the lower head. This is the snout.

  5. Step 5: Eyes, nose and smile

Draw two small round dots for eyes, one on each side above the muzzle. Inside the oval, draw a short line down for the nose and a little curved smile under it.

  6. Step 6: Chest and tummy

Under the chin, draw a bumpy curved line for the fluffy chest. Then add a small wavy line lower down to mark the bottom of the body.

  7. Step 7: Front legs

Draw a tall, skinny oval on the left side of the body for a front leg. On the right side, draw a matching curved leg that starts under the chest and curls at the bottom.

  8. Step 8: Little paws

At the bottom of the legs, draw a flat oval on each side for the paws. Make them about the same size so your Pomeranian sits nicely.

  9. Step 9: The puffy tail

Draw a bumpy round pom-pom beside the body on the right, like a smaller cloud. Add a short curved line inside it that swooshes toward the body.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Pomeranian

  • The head is the trickiest part. Draw it as a plain circle first, then add the little fur bumps on top of that line.
  • Keep the muzzle oval in the lower middle of the face and the eyes just above it. Eyes placed wide apart look extra sweet.
  • Draw the tail as a second small cloud beside the body, near the chest. Add the little swoosh line inside it to show the fluff curling.

Pomeranian fun fact for kids

Pomeranians get their name from Pomerania, a region along the Baltic Sea in what is now Poland and Germany. They are descended from larger spitz-type dogs.

Questions about drawing a Pomeranian

What shapes do I need to draw a Pomeranian?

You need a bumpy circle for the head, an oval for the muzzle, and skinny ovals for the legs. Flat ovals make the paws, two triangles make the ears, and a small bumpy circle makes the tail.

How do I make my Pomeranian look fluffier?

Add more small, rounded bumps along the outline of the head, chest and tail. The more bumps you draw, the puffier the fur looks.

How do I make my Pomeranian look cuter?

Draw the eyes small and wide apart, and add a little smile under the nose. A big round head on a small body also makes it look extra cute.
