How to Draw a Seal (Easy Step by Step)
A seal is a friendly drawing made from just a few simple shapes: a big circle for the head, a rounded dome for the body, a small pointy tail, and two leaf-shaped flippers. Once the shapes are down, two dots and a few short lines give your seal a sweet face.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big circle on the left side of your paper. This is the seal's head, so leave plenty of room to the right for the body.
Step 3: Body and tail
Start at the right side of the head and draw a long curve that arches up and over to the right. Finish it with a small pointy tail shape at the end. Then start under the chin, go down, and sweep a long curve along the bottom to meet the tail.
Step 4: The front flipper
Under the belly on the left, draw a pointy leaf shape that sticks out to the left. Start and end its lines on the belly.
Step 5: The back flipper
Next to the first flipper, draw a rounded U shape hanging down from the belly, like a little paddle.
Step 6: Face and whiskers
Draw two round dots for eyes near the top of the head. Near the bottom of the head, add a few short lines on each side for whiskers and a little wavy line for the mouth.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a seal
- Draw the head circle first and keep it a bit smaller than the body, so the seal looks cute and chubby.
- The tail is the trickiest part. Make a small pointy shape at the end of the back curve, and do not worry if it is a little bumpy.
- Make the two eyes the same size and keep them level, then keep the whiskers short so they stay inside the lower part of the head.

How to color your seal drawing
Try soft gray or brown for the body with a lighter belly, and blue water around it. For a creative twist, give your seal a red scarf or a ball to balance on its nose.
Seal fun fact for kids
Seals have long whiskers that can feel the tiny ripples fish leave in the water, which helps them find food even when it is dark or murky.
