A baby rattle is a great first drawing because it is made from circles and a star. You start with one big round head, add a handle with a ring, and finish with a star, two small shapes and curved lines that show the rattle shaking. Every part is simple, so it works well for beginners.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Start with a big circle near the top of your page. This is the round part of the rattle that holds the little beads.
Step 3: The handle
From the bottom of the circle, draw two lines going down that curve in a little, like the neck of a bottle. Then let them swing out and meet in a rounded loop at the bottom.
Step 4: The finger ring
Inside the round loop at the bottom of the handle, draw a smaller circle. This is the ring a baby holds on to.
Step 5: The big star
In the middle of the big circle, draw a star with five points. Start at the top point and zigzag out and in until you come back to the start.
Step 6: Two small shapes
Below the star, draw a tiny five-sided shape on the left and another on the right. Leave a little space between them and the star.
Step 7: Shaking lines
On each side of the rattle, draw two curved lines that bend like parentheses. Make the inner line longer and the outer line shorter to show the rattle shaking.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baby rattle
- Draw the big circle lightly first. If it looks lopsided, turn your paper and try again before pressing hard.
- The handle is the trickiest part. Draw the two side lines first so they curve in, then connect them with a round loop at the bottom.
- For the shaking lines, make both sides match. Draw the longer inner curve first, then add the shorter curve outside it.
