How to Draw a Baseball Glove (Easy Step by Step)
A baseball glove looks tricky, but it is really a big mitten shape with four round-topped fingers and a thumb. Once the outline and fingers are down, you add a few small stripes, some laces, a circle for the ball and a couple of curved lines, and it starts to look just like the real thing. It is a great first sports drawing because most of it is rounded shapes and gentle curves.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Glove and thumb
Draw a big rounded mitten shape that is wide at the bottom with a curved base. Add a thumb that sticks out to the upper left, and finish the right side with a small rounded corner at the top for the last finger.
Step 3: Two fingers
Next to the thumb, draw two tall fingers side by side, each with a round top like a tunnel. Run their sides straight down and let them share the line between them.
Step 4: Third finger
Add one more rounded finger between the two you drew and the corner on the right. Draw its round top and two straight sides going down.
Step 5: Finger stripes
Draw a short, thin stripe like a pill near the top of each of the three fingers on the right. Keep them pointing straight up and down.
Step 6: The laces
Between the thumb and the first finger, draw a small curved line with little crossing dashes, like tiny X marks. Then add one short stripe on the first finger to match the others.
Step 7: The baseball
In the middle of the palm, near the bottom, draw a circle for the baseball. Make it about as wide as two of the fingers.
Step 8: Ball stitches
Draw a curved line inside the left side of the ball, bending toward the middle like a closing parenthesis. Then draw a matching curve on the right side that bends back toward the middle.
Step 9: The pocket curve
Below the ball, near the bottom of the glove, draw a long, smooth smile-shaped curve. This is the pocket where the ball lands.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baseball glove
- Start with the big mitten shape and the thumb. Fingers are much easier to fit in once the outside shape is there.
- Make the four fingers about the same width, and let the middle two reach a little higher than the others so the glove looks natural.
- For the baseball stitches, draw the circle first, then add one curve on each side. The two curves should bend toward each other, like a closing and an opening parenthesis: )(

Baseball glove fun fact for kids
Baseball gloves are made of leather, and players rub oil or special cream into them so they stay soft. Many players also keep a ball tucked inside overnight so the pocket holds the right shape.
