A magic carpet is a fun thing to draw because it looks like it is floating and rippling in the air. It is built from wavy lines, a bending rectangle border, and a couple of diamond shapes. Add some small diamonds and swoosh lines and your carpet is ready to fly.

Step 1: Wavy top and bottom
Draw two long wavy lines, one near the top and one near the bottom, like ribbons rippling in the wind. Make the bottom wave a little lower and let both lines go up and down in the same rhythm.
Step 2: The carpet sides
Connect the two waves with a tall, slightly wobbly line on the left and another on the right. Now you have a floating carpet shape.
Step 3: The inner border
Draw a smaller wavy rectangle inside the carpet, leaving an even gap all the way around. Follow the same waves as the outside so the carpet looks like it is flying.
Step 4: The center diamonds
In the middle of the carpet, draw a diamond with softly rounded corners. Then draw a smaller diamond inside it, in the same shape.
Step 5: Fringe tassels
At each corner of the carpet, draw two short lines that poke out like a little V, so they look like the carpet's fringe. Do all four corners the same way.
Step 6: Three small diamonds
Draw three small diamonds with rounded corners floating around the carpet: one at the top left, one at the top right and one at the bottom right. Draw a tiny diamond hole inside each one.
Step 7: Wind swoosh lines
Under the carpet, add three short, gently curved lines of different lengths. Put two side by side and the third one a little lower. They show the carpet zooming through the air.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a magic carpet
- The wavy lines are the trickiest part, so draw them slowly and let your hand go up and down like a gentle ocean wave.
- Keep the inner border about the same distance from the outer edge all the way around, so the carpet looks neat.
- For the fringe, draw each pair of short lines so they spread apart a little, like a tiny V, and do not make them too long.

How to color your magic carpet drawing
Try deep purple and gold for the carpet, with a bright red border and a blue diamond in the center. For a creative twist, color the small floating diamonds in rainbow colors so the carpet leaves a trail of magic.
