Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big bag
Start with the round body of the bag. Draw a wide dome, like a big upside-down bowl, and leave the top open where the neck will go.
Step 3: The bag neck
At the top of the dome, draw the gathered neck of the bag. Make a wide, curvy V shape that flares open like a bowl, with a line along the top for the opening.
Step 4: Bow on the neck
Tie the bag shut with a little bow. Draw a small loop where the neck meets the dome, then add two curved ribbon ends that swoop down and out.
Step 5: Bear ear and head top
Peeking out of the bag, start the teddy bear. Draw a small half circle for the left ear, then a curved line that starts beside it and arcs over the top of the head.
Step 6: Bear face
Finish the round bear head by drawing the right side and a half circle ear. Add two round dots for eyes and a little wavy line for the mouth.
Step 7: The candy cane
Next to the bear, draw a tall candy cane. Make two straight lines going up, and curve them over at the top into a hook.
Step 8: The gift box
On the right, draw a small present sitting in the bag. Make a box with a wider lid on top, then add one line going up and one going across for the ribbon.
Step 9: Star and heart patch
Draw a five-pointed star floating above the toys on the right. Then draw a rounded square patch on the front of the bag and put a little heart inside it.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Santa's bag of toys
- Draw the big dome of the bag first and make it nice and wide. A roomy bag leaves plenty of space at the top for all the toys.
- The bear's face is the trickiest part. Draw the round head first, then place the two eyes side by side before adding the little wavy mouth.
- Draw the candy cane as two parallel lines and curve them together at the top into a hook. Keep the lines the same distance apart so the cane looks even.

Santa's bag of toys fun fact for kids
Teddy bears are named after United States President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt. A 1902 news cartoon about a bear hunting trip led a toy maker to start selling stuffed bears as "Teddy's bears."
Questions about drawing Santa's bag of toys
What shapes do I need to draw Santa's bag of toys?
You need a big dome for the bag, a circle for the bear's head, and a small box for the present. The candy cane is two lines with a hook, and the star has five points.
How do I make the teddy bear look cuter?
Keep the eyes round and the smile small. Round ears on the top corners of the head also make the bear look sweet.
How do I make the bag look full of toys?
Let the toys sit right at the opening of the bag. When the bear, candy cane, and present stand side by side in the neck, the bag looks packed.
