How to Draw a Sleeping Bag · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The pillow top

Draw a curved arch like a soft pillow: start at the left, curve up and across the top with a slightly slanted edge, then come down the right side. Leave the bottom open for now.

  3. Step 3: The sleeping bag

Below the pillow, draw a big rounded shape like a soft sack. Start with a nearly flat top that crosses the bottom of the pillow, then draw the sides down and curve them into a flat, rounded bottom.

  4. Step 4: The bear face

In the middle of the pillow, draw a circle for the bear's head. Add two small round ears on top, then two dots for eyes, a tiny dot nose, and a little curved smile.

  5. Step 5: The top stripes

Draw two long, gently curved lines across the bag. Start each one at the left edge and stop before the right side, leaving space between them.

  6. Step 6: The bottom stripes

Add two more curved lines below the first two, the same distance apart. Start each one at the left edge of the bag and stop before the right side.

  7. Step 7: The zipper

Near the right side, draw a small round blob for the zipper pull. Then draw a long line from the blob down along the right side, stopping near the bottom.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a sleeping bag

  • Draw the bag so its top edge overlaps the bottom of the pillow. That makes it look like the bear is tucked in.
  • Make the bear's head circle big, and put the two ear circles so they touch the top of it.
  • Keep the stripes curved and almost parallel. Draw each one in a single smooth stroke from left to right.

Sleeping bag fun fact for kids

Many sleeping bags are shaped like a mummy, wider at the shoulders and narrow at the feet, because a snug shape holds body heat and keeps campers warmer.
