How to Draw a Gosling (Easy Step by Step)
A gosling is a baby goose, and it is fun to draw because it is built from just a few friendly shapes. You will start with a round head and back, then add a pear-shaped body, a small beak, one eye, a tucked wing and two little feet. Every part is simple, so it is a great first bird to try.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head and back
Start on the left and draw a big round dome for the head, curving up and over to the right. Bring the line down the right side, tuck it in a little for the neck, then sweep it out to the right along the back.
Step 3: The body
Draw the left side of the neck, then curve out into a big round belly. Sweep along the bottom and up the right side to meet the end of the back line in a small pointed tail.
Step 4: The beak
On the left side of the head, draw a small bump for the top of the beak. Then draw a curvy smile line underneath it that sweeps back toward the face.
Step 5: The eye
Draw one small oval eye on the head above the beak. Fill it in so it is a solid dark dot.
Step 6: The wing
On the side of the body, draw a curved line like a smile that bends up and curls at the end. This is the little wing tucked against the gosling.
Step 7: Wing feather
Add a tiny short line at the curled end of the wing to show a soft feather tip.
Step 8: The feet
Draw two small feet at the bottom of the belly, a little apart. Give each foot two tiny leg lines going down into a flat, rounded shape with bumpy toes.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a gosling
- Start with one light oval for the body. Then draw the head so it sits a little above and to one side of it. Keep the neck short and gentle.
- The beak is the trickiest part. Draw the top bump first, then add the smile line underneath so the two lines meet near the tip.
- Make both feet the same size and put them a little apart under the belly. Draw the two tiny legs first, then the rounded foot below.

Gosling fun fact for kids
Baby geese can walk, swim and eat on their own within a day of hatching. They also follow the first moving thing they see after hatching, which is usually their mother.
