  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The truck bed

Draw the bed of the truck on the left: a tall box with a flat line across it. Let the top of each side curl in a little, and curl the bottom left corner a little too.

  3. Step 3: The cab and hood

Next to the bed, draw the cab. Start at the top of the bed's right side, slant up to a rounded roof, slope down, then run across the hood and curve down the front to the bottom.

  4. Step 4: The bottom line

Draw a short straight line along the bottom between the bed and the cab, so the whole truck sits on one level line.

  5. Step 5: The big wheels

Draw two big circles on the bottom line, one under the bed and one under the cab. Make them about the same size.

  6. Step 6: The hubcaps

Draw a smaller circle inside each big wheel. Try to put it right in the middle.

  7. Step 7: The window

Inside the cab, draw a window shaped like a trapezoid: a flat bottom, a shorter top, and slanted sides. Round the corners a little.

  8. Step 8: Door handle and bumper

Add a short line below the window for the door handle. Then draw a short line sticking out from the front of the truck for the bumper.

  9. Step 9: The pumpkin load

Draw three round bumps peeking over the top of the bed, side by side. Draw a short line down between them, then add a little curved stem on top of each one.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a pickup truck

  • Draw the bed and the cab first, then add the bottom line so the wheels have one flat line to sit on.
  • Wheels are the trickiest part. Draw the big circle first, then a small circle in the center. You can trace a coin or a cup if you want a rounder shape.
  • For the pumpkins, draw three bumps side by side. Give each one a tiny curved stem so they look like pumpkins and not just balls.

Pickup truck fun fact for kids

Pickup trucks have an open bed in the back so people can carry big things like firewood, bikes, and pumpkins from the farm.

Questions about drawing a pickup truck

What shapes do I need to draw a pickup truck?

You need a tall box for the bed, a rounded shape for the cab, a trapezoid for the window, and circles for the wheels.

How do I make my wheels look round?

Draw the circle lightly first and trace it again once it looks right. Tracing around a cup or a coin can help, and a small circle in the middle makes it look like a real wheel.

What can I put in the back of my truck?

Pumpkins are a good start, but you could also draw boxes, flowers, balls, or even a pet. Anything that peeks over the top of the bed works.
