How to Draw a Police Car (Easy Step by Step)
A police car is a fun first vehicle to draw because it is built from simple shapes you already know: long lines, circles, and half circles. The star on the door and the siren on the roof make it look just like the real thing. Once you can draw this one, you can change the details to make a taxi or a toy car.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Body outline
Draw a long straight line for the top of the car. At the left end, curve down, then bend a little to the right to make a small foot for the bottom edge.
Step 3: The cabin roof
On top of the long line, draw a big curved hump like a hill. Start on the top line, curve up and over, and come back down to the top line a bit farther along.
Step 4: The wheel arches
Draw two half circles that open downward along the bottom of the car. Join them with a straight line between them, and finish the right end by drawing the front edge down to a small foot.
Step 5: The wheels
Under each arch, draw a big circle for a wheel. Make the two wheels about the same size.
Step 6: Wheel hubs
Draw a small circle in the middle of each wheel for the hub.
Step 7: The windows
Inside the cabin, draw two window shapes side by side with a small gap between them. Each one has a flat bottom, a straight side, and a curved top.
Step 8: The siren light
On top of the roof, draw a small box with rounded top corners. Its sides sit on the roof line. Draw one straight line down the middle to split it into two lights.
Step 9: The headlights
Draw a small circle near each end of the car body, one on the left and one on the right.
Step 10: The police star
In the middle of the car door, draw a small star with five points. Keep the corners a little rounded.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a police car
- Draw the long top line first and leave room underneath for the wheels. It is much easier than trying to fit a car around two circles.
- Make the two wheel arches the same size by drawing them the same distance from each end of the car.
- For the star, draw five dots in a circle first, then connect every second dot instead of the one next to it. It will come out even.

How to color your police car drawing
Color the body dark blue or black, and make the windows light blue. For a twist, color the siren half red and half blue, or turn it into a rainbow rescue car.
Police car fun fact for kids
Many police cars have a light bar on the roof with red and blue lights, so people can see them from far away, even in the dark.
Questions about drawing a police car
What shapes do I need to draw a police car?
You need a long line for the top of the body, a big curved hump for the cabin, half circles for the wheel arches, circles for the wheels and headlights, and a star. Everything else is a small version of these shapes.
How do I draw the wheels so they look round?
Trace around a bottle cap or coin with a pencil for a perfect circle, then draw a smaller circle inside it. With practice you can draw them by hand, moving your whole arm in one smooth turn.
How do I make my police car look different from a regular car?
Add the siren box on the roof and the star on the door. Those two parts are what make it look like a police car.
