How to Draw a Police Dog (Easy Step by Step)
A police dog is a friendly helper who sits tall and proud, and it is easy to draw because it is built from simple shapes. You will use one long outline for the head and body, two pointed ears, a tiny shield badge, and a curved leaf shape for the tail. Each step adds one part, so you can stop and check your drawing as you go.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Head, ears and body
Start at the top with two tall pointed ears and a little dip between them. Draw down both sides of the face and the body, bulging out a bit at the hip, and finish each side with a small curled foot at the bottom.
Step 3: Eyes and nose
Draw two small solid dots for eyes, side by side in the upper part of the face. Add a small rounded triangle nose below and between them, filled in.
Step 4: The happy smile
Under the nose, draw a tiny line down, then curve a small smile out to each side like a gentle W.
Step 5: Collar, badge and strap
Draw a curved collar band under the chin and a second curve just below it, so they meet in a V on each side. Hang a little shield badge with a star inside in the middle, and add a short strap shape on the dog's side.
Step 6: Front legs and paws
Draw a short slanted line on the left chest, then two straight lines down for the front legs. Finish with rounded paws at the bottom, joined by a short flat line.
Step 7: Back leg and toes
Draw a big curve for the round hip on the right, then a line down to the back paw. Add a little curled toe line at the bottom.
Step 8: The tail
Next to the hip, draw a long curved leaf shape that sweeps up and out to a point.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a police dog
- Draw the ears as tall, pointy triangles with a small dip between them, and make both about the same height.
- Keep the badge small and draw the shield first, then the star inside it. A simple star is enough.
- Draw the two front legs as straight, close lines so the dog looks like it is sitting up tall.

Police dog fun fact for kids
Dogs have about 300 million scent receptors in their noses, while people have only about 6 million, which is one reason police dogs are so good at finding things.
