How to draw a school bus step by step

How to Draw a School Bus · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: The bus body

Draw a big wide shape with a long flat top, two straight sides and rounded top corners. Leave the bottom open for now, with just a short line curling in at each bottom corner.

  2. Step 2: The long stripe

Draw one straight line across the middle of the bus. Start a little way in from the left side and stop at the right side.

  3. Step 3: The door

Near the front of the bus, draw a tall skinny rectangle with rounded corners. Start near the top and stop a little above the bottom. Then add a small rounded window shape in the top of the door.

  4. Step 4: Four windows

Above the stripe, draw four rounded rectangles in a row, side by side. Try to make them the same size with the same space between each one.

  5. Step 5: The eight-sided shape

Below the stripe, in the middle of the bus, draw an octagon, a shape with eight short sides. Let its top touch the stripe.

  6. Step 6: Wheels and bottom line

Draw two big circles, one at each bottom corner, so the bottom of the bus passes through the middle of each one. Then draw a straight line between the two wheels to close the bottom of the bus.

  7. Step 7: Wheel centers

Draw a small circle in the middle of each wheel.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a school bus

  • Draw the long body first and give yourself plenty of room. The bus is wide, so start near the left edge of your paper.
  • The four windows are the trickiest part. Lightly mark where each one starts and stops before you draw, so they end up the same size and evenly spaced.
  • For the wheels, trace around a coin or a bottle cap if your circles come out wobbly. Center each wheel on the bottom line of the bus.

Questions about drawing a school bus

What shapes do I need to draw a school bus?

You need one long rounded rectangle for the body, four smaller rounded rectangles for windows, a tall skinny rectangle for the door, and two circles for wheels. The shape in the middle of the bus is an octagon, which has eight sides.

How do I draw a school bus for kids step by step?

Start with the big body, add the long stripe, then the door and windows. Finish with the octagon and the wheels. Drawing the biggest shapes first keeps the little parts in the right place.

How do I make my school bus wheels look round?

Draw a light circle first, then go over it with a firmer line. You can also trace a coin or a cup for a perfect circle. Add a smaller circle in the middle so the wheel looks real.
