  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The chef hat

Draw a puffy cloud shape at the top of the page with a bumpy top edge. Close the bottom with a straight line across.

  3. Step 3: Head and hat band

Draw a curved band line just below the hat, with a short line down on each side. Then draw the round bottom of the head, starting and ending at the ends of the band.

  4. Step 4: Eyes and smile

Add two little dots for eyes in the middle of the face. Draw a small curved smile between and below them.

  5. Step 5: The jacket

Under the chin, draw a tall rectangle with a slightly curved bottom for the jacket. Add a V shape at the top for the collar.

  6. Step 6: Arms

Draw a curved line out from each side of the jacket, bending it down and then up a little at the end to make a rounded arm and hand.

  7. Step 7: The wooden spoon

On the left, draw a small oval for the bowl of the spoon, held up beside the face. Add a short straight handle going down toward the hand.

  8. Step 8: The whisk

On the right, draw a narrow loop shape beside the face, with a few lines inside it. Bring the bottom to a small point near the hand.

  9. Step 9: Legs, shoes and buttons

Draw two short straight legs under the jacket. Add a rounded shoe at the bottom of each leg, and finish with four round dots for buttons on the jacket.

  10. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a chef

  • Draw the hat band as a gentle curve, not a flat line, so it wraps around the head.
  • Make the spoon and the whisk about the same height so the chef looks balanced.
  • Keep the legs short and the shoes wide, which makes the chef look cute and steady.
