How to draw a cowboy step by step

How to Draw a Cowboy · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Sides of the head

Draw two curved lines that bend like the sides of a big round head. Leave a wide gap at the top for the hat and a gap at the bottom for the neck.

  2. Step 2: The cowboy hat

Draw a long, curvy brim that swoops up at both ends like a smile, across the top of the head. Then add a rounded crown on top with a dip in the middle, and a band across the bottom of the crown.

  3. Step 3: Face, scarf and shirt

Inside the head, draw two small dots for eyes and a little curved smile. Under the head, draw a ruffled scarf, then a V-shaped line for the shirt, with a small square belt buckle and a little hand on the right.

  4. Step 4: Arms

Draw a long bean shape on each side of the body for the arms. Finish the left arm with a small round hand at the bottom.

  5. Step 5: Belt line

Draw a short straight line along the bottom of the body, next to the buckle, to finish the belt.

  6. Step 6: Legs and boots

Draw two straight legs hanging down from the belt. At the bottom of each, draw a boot that sticks out in front like the letter L.

  7. Step 7: The lasso

Draw a tall oval of rope above the right hand, like a big loop. Then let a wiggly line curl out from the hand for the tail of the rope.

  8. All done!

Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a cowboy

  • Draw the hat brim as one long smile-shaped curve, higher at both ends, and keep it wider than the head.
  • Make the two side lines of the head bend toward each other so they look like a round head once the hat is on.
  • For the lasso, draw a tall oval and then let a line wiggle away from the hand, which is easier than drawing a perfect circle.
