Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The head
Draw a big wide oval near the top of your page. This is the dragon's head, so leave lots of room below it for the body.
Step 3: The body
Start at the bottom of the head on both sides and draw two long curves that bulge out and go down. Finish with two rounded feet at the bottom, with a little gap between them.
Step 4: Horns
On top of the head, draw a small pointy triangle in the middle and one slightly bigger pointy triangle on each side. They look like a little crown.
Step 5: Face
Draw two round dots for eyes, two tiny dots for the nose, and a small curved smile under them.
Step 6: The wings
On each side of the body, draw a wing that starts near the shoulder and sweeps up to a rounded tip. Give the bottom edge two soft scalloped bumps.
Step 7: Little arms
Draw a small rounded C-shape on each side of the body, with the open ends touching the body.
Step 8: The belly
Draw a tall egg-shaped oval in the middle of the body for the dragon's tummy.
Step 9: Curly tail
Start at the side of the body near the bottom and draw a short wavy line that ends in a curly swirl. Add a couple of tiny bumps along the tail.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a dragon
- Draw the head oval wide and leave a gap below it, so the body has room to grow.
- The wings are the trickiest part. Draw the top edge first as one smooth sweep, then add two small bumps along the bottom.
- For the tail, start with a short wavy line and finish with a spiral, like winding up a snail shell.
