Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big head
Draw a wide, round oval near the top of your page. This is the dragon's head, so make it nice and big.
Step 3: The pointy horns
On top of the head, draw two small triangles with curved sides, one on the left and one on the right. Let them lean out a little like cat ears.
Step 4: Face and smile
Add two round dots for eyes in the middle of the head. Put two tiny dots for the nose between them, then draw a happy curved smile below.
Step 5: Body sides
Under the head, start at each side of the chin and draw a curved line that bulges outward and heads down. Leave the bottom open for now.
Step 6: Bat wings
On each side, start at the body line near the shoulder and draw a wing that goes up and out. Make the outer edge wiggly with pointy bumps, then curve back to the body line.
Step 7: Little arms
At the bottom of each body line, draw a small oval, just below the wing. Let it touch the body line.
Step 8: Flat feet
Near the bottom of your page, draw two flat ovals side by side, one on the left and one on the right. They will be the feet.
Step 9: Tummy and toes
Join the body lines to the feet and draw a short straight line between the feet. Add a tall oval in the middle of the belly with wavy stripes across it, and two short lines in each foot for toes.
Step 10: Curly tail
Start near the right foot and draw a long curve that sweeps out and up to the right. Finish with a small curl at the tip.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a baby dragon
- Draw the head oval wider than it is tall, and leave plenty of room below it for the body.
- The wings are the trickiest part. Start at the shoulder with one smooth curve going up and out, then add the wiggly, pointy bottom edge.
- Draw the tail last. Start it near the right foot and leave some space on the right so the curl has room to swing out.
