Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Sides of the head
Draw two curved lines for the lower sides of the head, starting near the bottom of the guide circle and sweeping up and out. Then add a short curve at the upper right of the head.
Step 3: Headphones
Draw a big curved band that arches over the top of the head like a rainbow. Then add a tall oval on each side of the face for the ear cups, joined to the ends of the band.
Step 4: The cap
Draw a dome shape on top of the head with a flat line across the bottom. Add a little pointed brim sticking out on the left side, and a small dot on top for a button.
Step 5: Happy face
Draw two small dots for eyes, spaced wide apart. Add a small curved smile below and between them.
Step 6: Shirt and mixer parts
Under the chin, draw the shirt with a wavy line across the top for the collar and a side line down each edge. Then add three small dots and two short upright lines in a row below the shirt for the mixer's knobs and sliders.
Step 7: Arms and hand
On the right, draw a long skinny oval pointing up and out for the raised arm, and put a small circle at the end for the hand. On the left, draw a short bent line for the other arm reaching down toward the mixer.
Step 8: The mixer
At the bottom of the body, draw a wide rectangle with rounded corners for the DJ mixer. Add a small bump on its top left corner where the hand rests.
Step 9: Turntables
Draw a big circle on each side of the mixer, around the small dots you drew earlier. Keep the two circles about the same size.
Step 10: Little feet
Under the mixer, draw two half ovals side by side, one on the left and one on the right. They peek out like little shoes.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a DJ
- Draw the band and the two ear cups so the cups sit at the same height on each side of the face. Look at the page and check that they line up.
- The mixer is a rectangle with rounded corners. Draw the straight sides first, then round the corners last.
- Make the two big turntable circles about the same size, and center each one around its small dots.

How to color your DJ drawing
Try a bright cap and headphones in red or blue, with a purple shirt and a gray mixer. For a creative twist, color the turntables like rainbow records and add music notes floating around the DJ.
DJ fun fact for kids
DJ stands for disc jockey. The first DJs played records on turntables, and the spinning part of a turntable is called a platter.
Questions about drawing a DJ
What shapes do I need to draw a DJ?
You need circles for the head, hand, and turntables, ovals for the ear cups and the raised arm, and a rounded rectangle for the mixer. A dome shape makes the cap.
How do I make my DJ look cuter?
Keep the eyes small and far apart, and draw a small curved smile. A big round head and tiny feet also make the character look cuter.
How do I draw headphones that fit the head?
Draw the sides of the head first, then curve the band over the top with a little space around the head. Add the ear cups at the ends of the band so they sit on the sides of the face.
