How to Draw a House Painter (Easy Step by Step)
A house painter is a friendly character with a hard hat, a paint roller, and a bucket, and each one is built from simple shapes. You will start with a big round head, add a dome hat, and finish with a tall roller, a bucket, and two oval shoes. It is a great drawing for practicing ovals, rectangles, and straight lines.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Head outline
Draw the sides and bottom of a big round head, like a wide U with the top left open. Stop a little above where the small circle below begins, leaving a gap for the neck.
Step 3: The hard hat
Draw a dome on top of the head like half a ball. Add a wide band across the bottom of the dome, then a short line down the middle and a slanted line on each side.
Step 4: Happy face
Add two small dots for eyes in the middle of the face. Draw a little curved smile underneath. Then make two short lines and one small dot below the head, where the legs and feet will go.
Step 5: Body and belt
Under the head, draw a box with rounded corners for the body. Add a straight line across the lower part of the box for the belt of the overalls.
Step 6: The bib
Near the top of the body, draw two lines hanging down side by side. Make them meet in a wiggly point in the middle to finish the bib of the overalls.
Step 7: Arms and hands
Draw a long, skinny oval arm reaching out to each side, one lifted up and one pointing out low. Put a small circle at the end of the raised arm for a hand, and a little curl at the end of the low arm.
Step 8: The paint roller
Beside the head, draw a long rounded rectangle for the roller. Add a bent handle that comes out its side and turns down, then draw a long straight stick down through the raised hand.
Step 9: Paint bucket
Near the low hand, draw a small bucket with straight sides and a flat rim on top. Add a curved handle arching over the top.
Step 10: Shoes
At the bottom, below the short leg lines, draw two wide, flat ovals side by side for the shoes.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a house painter
- Draw the head as a wide U and leave the top open, so the hard hat can sit right on top.
- The paint roller is the trickiest part. Draw the rounded rectangle first, then add the bent handle and the long stick last.
- Make the two arms long, skinny ovals that point in different directions, so the painter looks like they are really working.
