How to draw a Christmas tree with presents step by step

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The fluffy tree
Draw one big, puffy cloud shape with a bumpy edge, like a bunch of rounded scallops joined together. Leave a small gap at the top right for the star.
Step 3: The star
At the top right, draw a small five-pointed star that tucks against the edge of the tree. Start at one point and zigzag around with soft, rounded tips.
Step 4: The happy face
Draw two round dots for eyes in the middle of the tree, side by side. Add a tiny smile between them, a little curve with turned-up ends.
Step 5: The trunk
Under the tree, draw two nearly straight lines going down from the bottom bumps. Leave the space between them open, like a tall trunk.
Step 6: First present
To the left of the trunk, draw a box with a lid that sticks out a little at the sides. Add a small squiggly loop on top of the lid.
Step 7: More presents
Draw a small box at the far left, then on the right side draw a small box with a lid and a wider box beside it. Join the bottoms of all the boxes with a flat line along the ground.
Step 8: The bows
On top of some of the lids, draw two little loops that look like bunny ears, meeting in the middle. Make the loops round.
Step 9: Ribbons across
Draw a straight line across the front of each box, from one side to the other. This is the ribbon that wraps around the present.
Step 10: Ribbons down
Draw two short straight lines down the front of each box, from the lid to the bottom. Now every present looks wrapped up.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Christmas tree with presents
- Draw the cloud with a series of small, rounded humps instead of one long line. Lift your pencil between humps if that feels easier.
- Leave a little gap near the top right of the tree so the star has room to sit against it.
- Let the boxes sit close together and touch a little. A tight pile of presents looks full and cozy.
