How to Draw a Heart Cookie (Easy Step by Step)
A heart cookie is a sweet drawing to try because it starts from one simple shape, a heart. Inside it you add a wobbly smaller heart for icing, then dots, dashes and a curve for a happy face. A bite mark and a few crumbs make it look ready to eat.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Left side and point
Start at the dip in the top middle and draw a big curve around the left bump and down to a point at the bottom. Then draw a straight line from that point up and to the right, stopping about halfway up the right side.
Step 3: Right bump and bite
Start at the dip in the middle and draw the round top of the right bump. Keep going down the right side with a few little wiggles, like a bite taken out of the cookie, and end where the right side line stopped.
Step 4: Bite edge and crumbs
At the bottom of the bite, draw a tiny curved line sticking out to the right. Then dot two crumbs to the right of the cookie, a bigger one lower down and a smaller one a little higher and farther out.
Step 5: Wavy icing top
Inside the heart, draw a wiggly line across the top for the icing, with a little dip in the middle that matches the dip of the heart. Make it bumpy and not too even, like frosting that was squeezed on.
Step 6: Icing sides
Start at the left end of the wiggly line and draw a soft wobbly curve down the left side, around to a point near the bottom. Then keep going up the right side to finish a smaller wobbly heart inside the cookie.
Step 7: Face and sprinkles
Draw two round dots for eyes and a small smile curve below them. Then add short little dashes above the eyes for sprinkles, some on each side and one in the middle, pointing in different directions.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a heart cookie
- Draw the outer heart lightly first. The point at the bottom is the trickiest part, so aim both lines at the same spot before you press down.
- Make the icing wavy and uneven. A wobbly line looks like real frosting, so you do not need to be neat.
- Draw the bite with a few small wiggles, one after another. Add the crumbs last so they look like they just fell off.

Heart cookie fun fact for kids
Heart-shaped cookies are usually made with a cookie cutter. Bakers press the cutter into rolled-out dough, so every cookie in a batch comes out the same shape.
