Three sleepy kittens piled up in a tower make a drawing that is simple and very cute. It is built from big rounded blobs, small triangles for ears, a few curly tails, and dots and squiggles for the faces. Each cat is nearly the same, so once you can draw one, the rest are easy.

How to draw a stack of cats step by step

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 3 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The top head

Start with a big, wide rounded head shape like a soft bun. Add two pointy triangle ears on top, and leave the bottom open where the next cat will sit.

  3. Step 3: The middle cat

Under the top head, draw the sides of a second cat, curving out and down like a plump bean. Give it two little pointy ears at the top, with a tiny curl on each side right under the top cat's chin.

  4. Step 4: The bottom cat and tail

Below the middle cat, draw a wide, flat-bottomed blob for the third cat, with two small pointy ears and tiny curls at the top. Let the right side curl up into a little tail.

  5. Step 5: Tummy lines and tail

Draw a short straight line between the top and middle cats, and another between the middle and bottom cats, to close the gaps. Then add a long, curly tail on the right side of the middle cat.

  6. Step 6: All the eyes

Fill in two round dots for eyes on each cat. Keep them far apart and at the same height so the cats look sweet and sleepy.

  7. Step 7: Little smiles

Between the eyes of each cat, draw a tiny wavy line, like a small squiggle. Make it small so the cats look extra cute.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a stack of cats

  • Draw the top head first and leave room beneath it, so the next cat has space to tuck in.
  • Keep the ears the same size on every cat. Draw each one as a small triangle with a slightly curved side.
  • Draw the eyes first, then center the little smile between them. Use light pencil marks to check the spacing.

You need wide ovals or rounded blobs for the bodies, small triangles for the ears, and dots for the eyes. Curvy lines make the tails and the tiny smiles.

How do I make my cats look cuter?

Put the eyes wide apart and keep the smile very small. Round, chubby bodies also make cats look cuddly.

How do I draw cats stacked on top of each other?

Draw the top cat first, then start the next cat just below it so the top cat's chin overlaps it. Repeat for the last cat, and let each one look a little squished by the cat above.
