Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The round head
Draw a big circle near the top left of your paper. This round ball is the pigeon's head.
Step 3: The plump body
Start at the bottom left of the head and draw a big curve down and around, like a fat egg lying on its side. Then close the top by drawing a gentle curve from the right side of the head over to the right side of the body.
Step 4: The wing
In the middle of the body, draw a rounded leaf shape with a pointy end facing the tail. It looks like a lemon lying on its side.
Step 5: Wing feather lines
Draw two curved lines across the wing, one in the middle and one near the pointy end. They split the wing into feather sections.
Step 6: The tail
On the right side of the body, draw a curved leaf shape that sticks out like a fan. Start at the body and curve out to a rounded tip, then back in along the bottom.
Step 7: Tail feathers
Inside the tail, draw two short straight lines from the body toward the tip. These make the tail look feathery.
Step 8: Beak and eye
On the left side of the head, draw a small beak that points out to the left. Then add a little dot inside the head for the eye.
Step 9: Legs and feet
Draw two straight lines going down from the bottom of the body. At the end of each leg, draw a little curved toe shape like a bird footprint.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a pigeon
- Draw the head circle first and leave some space below it, so the body can tuck in right underneath without crowding it.
- The wing is the trickiest part. Make it a lemon shape lying on its side, and let the pointy end face the tail.
- Draw the legs last and keep them straight. Finish each one with a small curved toe shape at the bottom.

How to color your pigeon drawing
Pigeons are often gray with a shiny green and purple patch on the neck, so try soft grays with a touch of green. For a creative twist, color each wing section in a different bright color to make a rainbow pigeon.
