How to draw a strawberry step by step

How to Draw a Strawberry · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The berry shape

Draw a big heart shape with a rounded top and a gentle point at the bottom. Add a tiny dip in the middle of the top.

  3. Step 3: The stem

At the little dip in the top, draw a short stem shaped like a small tube. It is a little wider at the top and closed with a soft curve.

  4. Step 4: The leafy collar

Draw a wavy line of little hills and valleys across the top of the berry. Start at the left side of the heart and end at the right side, to show where the leafy top ends.

  5. Step 5: Face and seeds

Draw two small dots for eyes and a tiny curved smile between them in the middle. Then add small oval seeds: four in a row just under the wavy line, one below the smile, and two near the bottom point.

  6. Step 6: Lower left seed

Draw one more small oval seed on the lower left side of the berry, between the face and the edge. Keep it away from the outline.

  7. Step 7: Lower right seed

Draw a last small oval seed on the lower right side, matching the one on the left. Now your berry is finished!

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a strawberry

  • Sketch the heart lightly first. Let the sides curve in smoothly to the bottom point.
  • Take your time with the wavy collar. Keep the little hills about the same size so the pattern looks even.
  • Draw the seeds as small ovals and keep them away from the outline. If you are unsure, make light dots first to mark where each seed goes.

Strawberry fun fact for kids

The little seeds on a strawberry's skin are not really seeds. Each one is a tiny fruit with a seed inside, and a strawberry has about 200 of them.
