How to draw an avocado step by step

How to Draw an Avocado · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 3 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: The outer skin

Draw a big pear shape, like a light bulb: a narrow rounded top that gets wider toward a big round bottom. Close the shape so it makes one smooth loop.

  3. Step 3: The inner pear

Inside the skin, draw a smaller pear shape with the same narrow top and round bottom. Leave a little gap between it and the outer line, and close it into one loop.

  4. Step 4: The round pit

Near the bottom of the inner pear, draw a big circle. It should sit in the wide part without touching the inner line.

  5. Step 5: Face and arms

Inside the circle, draw two small dots for eyes and a tiny curved smile between them. Then draw a short curved arm on each side of the circle, starting near its edge and curling up and out.

  6. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing an avocado

  • Draw the outer pear first, then copy its shape smaller for the inner one. Leave a small gap between the two lines.
  • The narrow top is the trickiest part. Make it a soft, rounded curve instead of a point, then let the sides slope out toward the wide bottom.
  • Place the circle low in the inner pear so it touches nothing. Keep the face small and close together inside the circle so it looks cute.

How to color your avocado drawing

Use dark green for the skin, light yellow-green for the flesh and warm brown for the pit. Leave the eyes and smile dark so the face stands out.

Avocado fun fact for kids

An avocado is actually a big berry with a single large seed inside. That round seed is the pit, and you can sprout one in a glass of water on a sunny windowsill.

Questions about drawing an avocado

What shapes do I need to draw an avocado?

You need a pear shape for the skin, a smaller pear shape inside it and a circle for the pit. A few dots and curves add the face and arms.

How do I make my avocado look cuter?

Keep the eyes small with a little space between them and put the smile tiny and low in the circle. Two short curved arms make it look like it is cheering.

Why does my pear shape look lopsided?

Start with a light oval sketch and squeeze the top to make it narrower. Turn the paper as you draw so both sides curve the same way.
