How to Draw a Donut (Easy Step by Step)
A donut is a happy thing to draw, and it is built from just a few easy shapes: a big circle, a small circle, a wavy flower-like edge, and short little dashes. Once you can draw the circle plate and the bumpy icing, you can turn it into a smiling donut buddy.

Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: The big plate
Draw a large circle that almost fills your page. This is the plate your donut will sit on.
Step 3: Top of the icing
Inside the plate, near the top, draw a wavy line with two soft bumps that dip in the middle, like a gentle letter M. Leave the ends open on each side.
Step 4: Left and right sides
Join the top to the sides by drawing a bumpy curve down the left side, with a little pinch in the middle. Do the same on the right side so the two sides match.
Step 5: Bottom of the icing
Draw two soft bumps along the bottom, dipping in the middle just like the top. Connect the ends to the side lines to close up the wavy icing.
Step 6: The donut hole
In the middle of the icing, draw a round circle for the hole. Try to keep it centered, with the same space around it.
Step 7: Sprinkles and a face
Draw short, rounded dashes in a ring around the hole for the sprinkles. Then add two dots for eyes near the bottom and a small smile in between.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a donut
- Draw the plate first, then keep the icing well inside it so there is a clear gap all the way around.
- The wavy edge is the trickiest part. Think of it as a flower with 8 round petals, and draw one soft bump at a time.
- For the sprinkles, make each one a short dash and point them around the hole like spokes on a wheel. Keep the face a little lower than the hole so it has room.

How to color your donut drawing
Try a pink or chocolate brown icing with rainbow sprinkles, and a light blue plate. For a creative twist, give your donut a different flavor on each bump, like strawberry, mint, and lemon.

You need two circles, one big for the plate and one small for the hole, plus a wavy flower-shaped outline for the icing. Short dashes make the sprinkles.
How do I make my donut look cuter?
Add two round dot eyes and a tiny smile, and place them low on the icing, below the hole, so the face looks sweet and cozy.
How do I draw the wavy icing edge?
Draw it one bump at a time, like the petals of a flower. Make each bump about the same size, and pinch in a little where two bumps meet.
