Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: The plate
Draw a big wide oval for the plate. Make it a little flatter than a circle, like a squished ball.
Step 3: The plate rim
Near the bottom, draw a curved smile line that starts at the left side of the plate and swoops across to the right side. This shows the thick edge of the plate.
Step 4: The wavy icing
Inside the plate, draw a big bumpy, wavy loop for the icing, like melted frosting. Leave a little space between the icing and the plate.
Step 5: The donut hole
In the middle of the icing, draw a smaller oval for the hole. Try to keep it centered.
Step 6: Holly leaves
At the top of the icing, draw two small, pointy holly leaves side by side with zigzag edges. Let them touch in the middle, and add a tiny short line sticking up where they meet.
Step 7: Sprinkles
Scatter short dashes, little dots and a tiny curved squiggle around the icing. Spread them out so they look like sprinkles falling everywhere.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a Christmas donut
- Draw the plate oval first and keep it wide and flat. Everything else sits inside it, so a good oval makes the rest easier.
- For the icing, think of a cloud: make soft bumps instead of sharp corners. Go slowly and let the line wobble a little.
- The holly leaves are the trickiest part because they are small. Draw each one as a short zigzag with a few points, and do not worry if they are not exactly alike.
