Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch these 3 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.
Step 2: Top cookie dome
Draw a wide, rounded dome like a little hill. Start on the left, curve up over the top, and come back down on the right. Leave the bottom open.
Step 3: Wavy cream edge
A little below the dome, draw a wavy line going across. At each end, curve the line down and in, like the top of a small bowl.
Step 4: Wavy cream top
Draw a second wavy line right under the dome, across the gap. Round the two ends out a little so they bump past the sides of the dome and meet the first wavy line.
Step 5: Big bottom dome
Under the top macaron, draw a wider, rounder dome. Start with a flat straight line across the top, then curve down from both ends to make the sides. Leave the bottom open.
Step 6: Bottom cookie bowl
Near the bottom of the page, draw a wide bowl shape. Make its top edge a wavy line like little hills.
Step 7: Bottom cream layer
Draw a wavy line across the bottom of the big dome, just above the bowl. Round both ends out a little to close up the cream layer.
Step 8: Smiling face
On the top dome, draw two small round dots for eyes, side by side. Add a little smile curve between them, a bit lower.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a macaron
- Draw the wavy lines slowly, like gentle hills of the same size. Practice a row of bumps on scrap paper first.
- Start each dome with its top, then curve down each side. Stop the sides before they close up.
- Make the bottom macaron wider than the top one. That makes the stack look steady and cute.
