Saturn is fun to draw because it is just a circle with a tilted ring wrapped around it. Add a few curved stripes and some little stars, and your page turns into outer space. You only need a circle, curved lines, a skinny oval and small stars.

Step 1: Planet and big ring
Draw a big round circle for the planet. Then draw one long curved line that sweeps across the bottom of the planet and loops around the right side, like the edge of a tilted hoop.
Step 2: Left end of ring
On the left, draw a curved line that starts at the planet's left edge and swoops down and around to meet the end of the long ring line. This closes the outer edge of the ring.
Step 3: The inner ring
Draw a smaller, skinny oval inside the big ring, tilted the same way. Let its front edge cross over the bottom of the planet and keep a steady space between the two rings.
Step 4: The top stripe
Draw one gently curved line across the top part of the planet. Start at the left edge of the circle and sweep it up toward the right edge.
Step 5: Two more stripes
Draw two more curved lines below the first stripe, curving the same way. Start each at the left edge of the planet and end at the right edge, with even space between them.
Step 6: A twinkly star
In the top left corner, draw a small star with five rounded points. Keep it far enough from the planet to leave room.
Step 7: More stars
Draw two more small stars, one in the top right corner and one in the bottom right corner. Make them about the same size as the first star.
All done!
Go over your lines with a marker, then color it in.

Tips for drawing Saturn
- Draw the planet circle first and lightly, so you can fit the ring around it without running out of room.
- The ring is the trickiest part: it crosses in front of the planet at the bottom, so take your time and keep the lines smooth.
- Draw the stripes with the same slant as the ring so they look like they wrap around the ball.

How to color your Saturn drawing
Try golden yellow and orange stripes for the planet, with pale tan and cream rings. For a creative twist, make the rings rainbow-colored and color the sky dark blue, with yellow stars.
Saturn fun fact for kids
Saturn is the least dense planet in our solar system. It is lighter than water, so it would float if you could find a bathtub big enough. Its rings are made of billions of pieces of ice, from tiny specks to chunks as big as a house.
