Step 1: Guide shapes
Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.
Step 2: Top arch and collar
Near the top of the page, draw a wide curved arch like a rainbow. Then draw a short wavy line a bit lower down, in the middle, for the collar where the neck will be.
Step 3: The raincoat body
Under the collar, draw a small tuft at the neck. Add a curved shoulder line on each side, then a dotted line down the middle. Finish with a curved hem along the bottom with a little tick up at each end.
Step 4: Head and floppy ears
Draw the round head so it joins the collar, then add a long, floppy ear on each side. Start each ear near the top of the head and curve it down and back in.
Step 5: The hood band
Draw a big arch over the top of the head, from one ear to the other. Add a tiny corner where the arch meets each ear.
Step 6: Straps and sleeves
Draw a short curved line from under each ear down toward the coat. Then add a tall oval sleeve on each side of the coat.
Step 7: Eyes, muzzle and nose
Draw two round dots for eyes. Add a round muzzle in the middle of the face, and fill a small oval nose at the top of the muzzle.
Step 8: Coat buttons
Draw three short, wide ovals in a column down the middle of the coat, evenly spaced, for the buttons.
Step 9: Little boots
Under the coat, draw two small boxes with open tops for the boots. Start each line at the hem and leave a small gap between them.
Step 10: Raindrops
Draw four small teardrop shapes around the dog, two on each side, one higher and one lower.
All done!
Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a dog in a raincoat
- Draw the hood arch over the head with a little space in between, so the two curves look like a hood.
- The ears are the trickiest part. Make each one a long oval and keep both about the same size so they match.
- Space the three button ovals evenly down the middle of the coat so they line up straight.
