How to draw a scientist step by step

How to Draw a Scientist · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch these 2 ovals. They only show where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase them at the end.

  2. Step 2: Round head outline

Draw a big rounded oval for the head, starting at the bottom left and curving up and over to the bottom right. Leave a small gap at the bottom where the neck will go.

  3. Step 3: Spiky hair

Draw five small pointy triangles along the top of the head. Make the middle ones stand up tall and let the ones at the sides point out and down.

  4. Step 4: Lab coat body

Under the head, draw a short box shape for the coat with a flat line across the top and a flat line along the bottom. Make the two sides curve out just a little.

  5. Step 5: Face and coat details

On the face, draw two small dots for eyes with a short dash between them, and a little curved smile below. Then draw a V for the collar, a straight line down the middle of the coat, and a small square pocket on one side.

  6. Step 6: Arms and flask

Draw one long, wavy arm stretching out from the left side of the coat. On the right side, draw a bent arm with a rounded hand holding a small flask that has a narrow neck and a wide bottom.

  7. Step 7: Round glasses

Draw two circles on the face around the eyes, and put a dot in the middle of each one. Join the circles with a short line, and add a tiny line on each side of the head for the glasses arms.

  8. Step 8: Wavy eyebrows

Above each glasses circle, draw a short wavy line for a bushy eyebrow.

  9. Step 9: Legs and shoes

At the bottom of the coat, draw two very short lines for legs. Under each one, draw a wide flat oval for a shoe.

  10. Step 10: Test tube and liquid

At the end of the left arm, draw a hand and a tall, skinny test tube standing up from it. Then add a wavy line across the flask on the right for the liquid.

  11. Step 11: Bubbles

Next to the flask, draw two small circles that touch each other for floating bubbles.

  12. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a scientist

  • Draw the two glasses circles about the same size. Trace around a coin or a bottle cap if your circles keep coming out wobbly.
  • The flask is the trickiest part. Start with a narrow neck at the top, then draw two slanted lines that spread out to a wide bottom.
  • Draw the hair triangles so they touch the top of the head and there are no gaps.

Scientist fun fact for kids

Scientists often wear safety glasses and lab coats in a laboratory to protect their eyes and clothes from spills and splashes.
