How to Draw a Medal · tinyhandscreate.com

  1. Step 1: Guide shapes

Lightly sketch this oval. It only shows where the big parts go, so press softly. You will erase it at the end.

  2. Step 2: The round medal

Draw a big circle in the lower middle of your page. This is the medal that hangs below the ribbon.

  3. Step 3: The inner circle

Draw a smaller circle inside the big one, leaving an even gap all the way around. It makes a neat rim, like a ring inside a ring.

  4. Step 4: The ribbon outline

Above the medal, draw a wide V-shaped ribbon. Make a short flat line across the top of each side, then draw long slanted lines down to meet the top of the circle. Join the two flat tops with a small V dip in the middle.

  5. Step 5: Ribbon stripes

Inside each side of the ribbon, draw one slanted line that follows the ribbon edge. Start near the top and stop before the bottom, so the lines stay short.

  6. Step 6: The star

In the center of the medal, draw a five-point star with its top point straight up. Zigzag out and in around the middle to make the points.

  7. Step 7: Sparkles

Draw two little sparkles, one on each side of the medal. Each one is a small diamond shape.

  8. All done!

Erase the guide shapes, go over your lines, then color it in.

Tips for drawing a medal

  • Draw the big circle first, then the smaller circle inside it. Keep the gap between them the same all the way around so it looks like a rim.
  • The ribbon is the trickiest part. Draw the flat tops and the dip in the middle first, then connect the slanted sides down to the circle.
  • For the star, start at the top point and zigzag down and around. If it looks lopsided, try again with a light pencil line first, then trace over your best one.
